Famous Ukrainian doctor Serhiy Kiilo shared with «FACTS» how he helps soldiers recover
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has taken a toll on the physical and mental well-being of many soldiers. But thanks to the dedication and expertise of renowned Ukrainian doctor Serhiy Kiilo, many soldiers are able to recover and return to their duties.
Dr. Kiilo, a specialist in sports medicine and rehabilitation, has been working with soldiers since the beginning of the conflict in 2014. He has treated hundreds of soldiers, both on the front lines and in hospitals, helping them overcome injuries and trauma.
In an exclusive interview with «FACTS», Dr. Kiilo shared his insights on the challenges faced by soldiers and how he helps them recover.
«Soldiers are exposed to extreme physical and psychological stress on a daily basis,» Dr. Kiilo explained. «They are constantly on high alert, facing the constant threat of enemy attacks. This can lead to physical injuries, such as fractures and wounds, as well as mental health issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).»
Dr. Kiilo’s approach to treating soldiers is holistic, taking into account both their physical and mental well-being. He believes that a combination of medical treatment, physical therapy, and psychological support is crucial for their recovery.
«Many soldiers come to me with physical injuries, but it’s important to also address their mental health,» Dr. Kiilo said. «I work closely with psychologists to provide soldiers with the necessary support and therapy to overcome their trauma.»
One of the main challenges Dr. Kiilo faces is the lack of resources and equipment in the war-torn region. But he doesn’t let that stop him from providing the best care possible for his patients.
«I have to be creative and resourceful in my approach,» Dr. Kiilo shared. «I often have to improvise with the limited resources available, but my main focus is always on the well-being of my patients.»
Dr. Kiilo’s dedication and expertise have not gone unnoticed. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work with soldiers, including the Order of Merit from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
But for Dr. Kiilo, the most rewarding part of his job is seeing his patients recover and return to their duties.
«It’s a great feeling to see soldiers who were once injured and unable to walk, now back on their feet and ready to serve their country,» Dr. Kiilo said. «Their determination and resilience inspire me every day.»
Dr. Kiilo’s work has not only helped soldiers physically and mentally, but it has also had a positive impact on their families and communities. Many soldiers have returned to their homes and are able to lead normal lives, thanks to Dr. Kiilo’s expertise and care.
In addition to his work with soldiers, Dr. Kiilo also conducts research and trains medical professionals in the field of sports medicine and rehabilitation. He hopes to continue making a difference in the lives of soldiers and promoting the importance of rehabilitation in the medical field.
As the conflict in Ukraine continues, the demand for Dr. Kiilo’s services remains high. But he remains committed to his mission of helping soldiers recover and return to their duties.
«I am proud to be able to contribute to the well-being of our soldiers and help them in any way I can,» Dr. Kiilo said. «They are the true heroes, and it’s an honor to be able to support them in their journey to recovery.»
